I had this CD when it originally came out on tape. The sound quality was awful. I was happy to see that I could purchase it on CD. I immediately opened it when it arrived and played it on my computer. I then decided to take it to another CD player in the house and was again dissapointed. The CD arrived new still in the package so I don't know what happened.
IT EMBODIES EVERYTHING GOOD ABOUT MUSIC.ABOUT BLACK MUSIC. THIS CD IS THE BEST THAT SOUNDS OF BLACKNESS HAS TO OFFER. I NEVER GET TIRED OF IT. IT CAN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS. I KNOW THEY ALSO HAVE JOURNEY OF THE DRUM, WHICH COMES CLOSE, BUT THIS ONE WINS, HANDS DOWN.
This is the best gospel album of all time for contemporary gospel sound. The music, the blend, the genre, the story, the harmony it all works together and has me begging for more. The albums after this were ok but have never come close to this first production. I wish they would create another album that matches the musical technique of the first one.
I've owned 2 CD copies of this album since 1995 (yes, I've worn both of them out of exhaustion)--but I'd gladly buy this CD again. It satisfies my soul with its musical, social, cultural, and spiritual ideals. "Optimistic" still energizes me when I feel run-down and discouraged.and the interludes are short, but sweet soulful bites of artistry. I wish the group still had the line-up listed on this CD, but this CD is well worth spending my last dollar to have it.AGAIN.
Your Wish is My Command is a song I enjoy listening to after I get through a rough day or a challenging week with so many responsibilities. This is a brilliant collection of urban gospel music from the Sounds of Blackness. It is my way of praising and thanking the Lord and offering myself to Him for redemption and forgiveness and His love.Other tracks that stand out include "Stand", "Testify" and "Hallelujah Lord". It is only fitting that the album start off with the powerfully uplifting track "Optimistic". I often listen to this track on the way to work every morning.I also love The Pressure (I prefer the Part #2 version to Part #1). If you enjoy other songs from the Sounds of Blackness or urban gospel music in general, you won't be disappointed with The Evolution of Gospel. Pick up a copy today and prepare to be lifted.
